Acupuncture can be helpful for those wishing to conceive, or who may be experiencing difficulties. It is also great for women wishing to maintain a healthy pregnancy, and it can help with back pain, headaches, sickness and giving up smoking amongst others.
Studies have shown that acupuncture can help the conception process. This is becuase using acupuncture can:
- improve blood flow to the reproductive organs
- balance hormone levels
- regulate menstrual cycles and ovulation
- help with polycystic ovaries and endometriosis
- help men with sperm count, mobility and vitality
- acupuncture helps relieve stress and underlying causes of imbalance which contribute to fertility problems
A recent study published in the British Medical Journal concluded that acupuncture can help the sucess of IVF; "current preliminary evidence suggests that acupuncture given with embryo transfer improves rates of pregnancy and live birth among women undergoing in vitro fertilisation".
Acupuncture can also help support pregnancy, by relieving morning sickness, lower back pain and by also giving the mother-to-be emotional support through a time of transition and new life.
